DRY PRESS July 2005

Dry County are Kevin Littlewood, Phil Porter, Joanne Parle and Stuart Flood. They have generally been recognised as one of the freshest and most interesting acts to emerge from Ireland in recent times. Live performances throughout the last 18 months have seen the band build a growing audience for their post-everything pop music. Shows at the Mor Festival, Spiegel Tent, Visonic Festival in Belfast, Donal Dineen's Small Hours Christmas Show and more recently the IMRO showcase have made a huge impact on discerning Irish listeners.

Their work brings together programmed beats with a carefully arranged band sound; guitars, keyboards, bass, vocals and occasionally live drums are added to the mix. Influences range from New Order to Arvo Pärt, Björk to Django Rheinhart. The 'Nothing Stays in Place' mini album was released by Lazybird in 2004, but sold out and was reissued this year; the lead track 'Lost Now' has become something of a signature tune for the band. The 2005 'Nothing Stays in Place' sees all the original tracks along with some rather interesting and creative mixes. It is distributed by Cavallerro through RMG Chart. 'Lost Now' was also featured on the HMV playlist CD in June and is available from HMV around the country.

'Nothing Stays In Place' tracklisting: Lost Now / Fell Into An Etch / Mannix / Not Everything is Reflected / Kill the Cold.

The re-issue of 'Nothing Stays in Place' was marked by a performance in Whelans of Wexford Street. As well as featuring the tracks from the mini-album the band also played newer tracks from their forthcoming full length album to a hugely appreciative audience. This was followed up with a performance at the Bud Rising Festival, IMRO showcase best of 2005, and a hugely live broadcast gig in the Roisin Dubh Galway for Cian O'Ciobhain's Taobh Tuathail show on Radio na Gaeltachta. They are currently planning a small European tour around a Popkomm date in Berlin, Germany this September. Impending gigs include a slot at the Electric picnic September 3rd, supporting God is an Astronaut in Waterford Septrember 10th and a gig at Crawdaddy Dublin set for the 30th September.

Dry County are also currently completing their debut album proper which is due for release in Autumn 2006. Tasters of the new material can be downloaded from www.drycounty.org.
